Pallet rack is the preferred type of racking system in many warehouses as it allows for easy loading and unloading of products. Warehouses are often fast-paced and can be a harsh environment for equipment. During regular use, the pallet rack absorbs a lot of wear and tear and the connections between uprights and beams can become disconnected, making the system unstable. Pallet rack clips are used to help secure pallet rack uprights and beams for increased safety.

Pallet rack clips are an important part of pallet rack construction and should be used in all installations to increase workplace safety. Without the use of clips, pallet rack beams can become dislodged and cause pallets to fall out or even the entire structure to collapse.

There are various pallet rack clip options to work with the different types and manufacturers of pallet rack. When purchasing pallet rack clips, always ensure that they are made for the type of pallet rack you have. Here are some of the most commonly used ones:

Types of Pallet Rack Clips

Teardrop Safety Clip

Some pallet rack clips are made to work with a certain style of pallet rack of any manufacturer. The American Storage & Logistics Teardrop Safety Clip is compatible with most teardrop-style beams and uprights. It has a self-engaging spring-loaded mechanism that provides positive locking. Keep in mind that all new beams bought from ASL come with safety clips already installed.

SpeedRack Safety Clip

Certain pallet rack manufacturers make clips specifically for their pallet rack design. The SpeedRack Safety clip is an example of this. This type of safety clip can only be used with the SpeedRack teardrop style pallet racks.

This particular manufacturer makes two types of safety clips. One is in a horseshoe design and is installed at the top of a beam to secure the connection between the beam and the upright.

The other SpeedRack design includes a clip design that goes over the top of the beam to secure it to the upright.

Pinch Pin Safety Clip

The pinch pin safety clip by American Storage & Logistics is another safety clip product that works with teardrop pallet rack systems of different manufacturers. The pinch pin has a spring-loaded mechanism that is pinched as it’s inserted into the pallet rack beams. When released, the pin stays in place and secures the beam to upright connection.

Other Pallet Rack Safety Products to Consider

Concrete Wedge Anchors

Concrete wedge anchors are used to secure the pallet rack uprights to the ground to ensure that they do not fall over. They can also be used to secure post protectors to the ground.

Post Protectors

Post protectors prevent damage to the pallet rack uprights. They are installed directly on the pallet rack uprights to protect them from getting hit by equipment and pallets during the loading and unloading process.

Aisle Guards

Aisle Guards are made to go on the right or left side of pallet rack for low profile protection that doesn’t affect visibility. They protect pallet rack from getting hit by warehouse equipment such as forklifts.

Guard Rails

Guard Rails are another great way to prevent the ends of aisles from damage. They can also be installed around structural platforms, in-plant offices, conveyors, and building structures such as water mains.
